Investment brings enhanced fan experience, community partnership opportunities
The City of Hibbing is excited to announce a major upgrade at the Memorial Building arena.
Last week, the arena’s longtime scoreboard — installed in 1993 and weighing more than 4,000 pounds — was removed after more than three decades of service.
In its place, a state-of-the-art, four-sided digital video board will be installed in mid-September. The upgrade will deliver a dynamic, modern sports experience for athletes, fans, and community members who attend events at the arena.
“This project is about more than just replacing old equipment — it’s about creating a modern, engaging experience for our community,” said City Services Director Nick Arola, noting the cost for the new scoreboard is around $350,000.
“The new scoreboard will enhance the atmosphere at games, increase the fan experience, provide opportunities for local businesses to show their support, and ensure Hibbing’s arena continues to be a top-notch facility for years to come.”
Benefits of the New Digital Scoreboard:
- High-quality video displays to enhance the fan experience
- Opportunities for local business “partnerships” and recognition
- A boost to Hibbing’s reputation as a regional hub for athletics and community events
- A long-term investment in the city’s future growth and resilience
The City of Hibbing invites local businesses and organizations to partner in this exciting new chapter for the Memorial Building arena. To be include on the new scoreboard, please contact Nick Arola, City Services Director, at nickarola@hibbingmn.gov
