Good to Know: Snow Removal & Parking

Snow Removal Ordinance

Here's what we'd like you to know about city snow removal and parking when the inches pile up:

❄ A Snow Plowing Event is defined as when 2 or more inches of snow accumulates and snow plowing is occurring immediately after said snow fall (city ordinance sec. 9.21, subd. 2)

❄ It is unlawful to park or leave standing any motor vehicle on a Priority 1 Street (see the map and lists below) during a Snow Plowing events. ⬅️ Noncompliance with this leaves one subject to a vehicle towing and fine (sec. 9.21, subd. 3)

❄Note which Priority 1 streets are plowed to the curb vs. snow pulled to the center (yes, windrows). Keep this in mind as you are navigating following a sizable snow event. It may save you time and a headache plotting your alternative route ahead of time.

❄And for the good news: we are set to take delivery of 2 new dump trucks in December, which will help our Public Works crews in snow removal! Give the guys a nod or wave when you see them working hard and taking care of our streets.
